Architectural Engineering Faculty Position at Oklahoma State University

Oklahoma State University School of Architecture is accepting applications to fill one tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level in Architectural Engineering. The successful candidate will teach structural engineering design courses as well as core engineering courses (Statics or Strengths), and have a second emphasis in construction management. Additionally, the candidate may offer a specialty course in a technical topic closely related to building design, and is expected to develop a creative and scholarly agenda that contributes to the mission and goals of the school, college, and university.

The programs in the School of Architecture are ABET and NAAB accredited and depend on a dedicated faculty of 18 professors working as a close-knit team and serving a student body of 350.  For 113 years, the program has been professionally educating architects and architectural engineers, combining a strong design and problem-solving curriculum with an emphasis on technology and building systems integration.  The School’s state-of-the-art facilities support faculty and students in their educational endeavors and scholarly pursuits.  The School of Architecture fosters a collegial atmosphere among the faculty, most notably through team-taught design studios.  Collaborative and multi-disciplinary research and scholarship are valued and embraced through the School’s integration of accredited undergraduate programs in architecture and architectural engineering as well as its role in the College of Engineering, Architecture and Technology. Required Qualifications:

Candidates must be able to teach introductory and advanced level structural engineering courses and core engineering courses, instruct students in the methods and applications of professional practice, aid students in professional design projects and thesis research, and contribute to architectural design studios. Professional License (PE or SE).

The responsibilities of the job include teaching courses; supervising the efforts of student assistants; serving under applicable regulations on a graduate student committees; advising students on curricular and career choices; assisting student organizations; serving on departmental, college and university committees; assuming major responsibilities for those areas assigned by the school head.  An Assistant Professor is expected to begin developing scholarly and professional maturity as evidenced, variously, by publication of conferences; development of substantial course and curriculum materials and active participation in appropriate technical societies.  Candidates are expected to develop a scholarly agenda as well as participate in academic and professional service.

Preferred Qualifications:

Preference will be given to candidates who have a Master of Architectural Engineering or equivalent advanced engineering degree with a professional license (PE or SE) and significant practice experience, or those who have a Ph.D.

Tenure-Track Openings (EnvE & Eng Mech) at Univ. of Vermont

1) Tenure-Track Assistant or Associate Professor in Environmental Engineering (Position #006305) – We seek candidates that complement existing research conducted within the department and across the university on physical, chemical, and biological processes for water and wastewater treatment and recovery of beneficial products from wastes, including those who combine experimental research with computational sciences. Priority will be given to individuals who can connect contemporary water and wastewater issues to regional, national, and global environmental and public health outcomes.  The candidate will be expected to maintain an active program of externally-funded research and contribute to two separate ABET-accredited undergraduate education programs (Civil Engineering; Environmental Engineering) as well as teach CEE undergraduate and M.S. and Ph.D. graduate courses in their area of expertise.

2) Tenure-Track Assistant Professor in Engineering Mechanics and Materials (Position #004608) – We seek applicants who work at the frontier of their field towards enhancing the sustainability of the built and natural environments. We welcome applicants from all areas of engineering mechanics and materials that could complement existing research expertise within the department and the university. Hydraulics Engineer at Emrgy

Emrgy – Hydraulics Engineer – 2 Nov 2021

Emrgy provides clean energy generation by placing hydrokinetic turbines in canals. This is a multi-billion dollar opportunity in North America alone. The Company’s 5-20 kW, modular hydropower turbines integrate flexibly into megawatt scale arrays within existing canals to generate continuous renewable electric power using innovative hardware and software technology. Emrgy’s distributed hydropower solution embodies the same attributes that have made the wind and solar power industries grow exponentially over the past several decades: modularity and flexibility. Emrgy is preparing for significant sales with committed municipal and utility customers in 2021 as well as growing project development interest. This expansion builds upon four years of product engineering, over $6 million in Federally-sponsored R&D funding, a partnership with GE Renewables, and growing customer engagements.

Emrgy is seeking a Hydraulics Engineer to grow our water assessment team. Emrgy is developing a one-of-a-kind database of the world’s irrigation and water transport systems to exploit the kinetic energy for distributed hydro power production. The Hydraulics Engineer will lead this effort by performing desk top reviews and site assessments as well as supporting power production performance tests and be responsible for the data base development and management. The Hydraulics Engineer will report to the VP of Deployment and Asset Management.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform desk top review of all available data related to irrigation and other water delivery systems in target regions around the globe to assess the potential for energy production using Emrgy
  • Continue to develop and add to the existing ARC-GIS database of cataloged
  • Improve upon and manage the methodology for ranking potential waterways for energy production.
  • Support sales and origination by performing site assessment studies to further define waterway potential and provide detailed data required for accurate turbine and array
  • Support and participate in project performance testing to validate system performance after
  • Facilitate coordination with and manage engineering subcontractors required to support waterway infrastructure improvements or changes to enhance turbine
  • Support the digital analytics team in developing the most cost effective means to monitor system performance and collect data on water infrastructure.
  • Performs other related duties as

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Water Studies, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or other related discipline
  • 5+ years of project experience with open channel flow, hydraulics engineering or related industry
  • Proficiency with the MS Office Suite of tools, HEC-RAS and other 1 and 2 dimensional modeling
  • Ability to travel up to 50%.
