Position: Environmental Protection Specialist (Community Revitalization), GS-13

Salary: $102,663 to $ 133,465 per year (likely)

We are seeking individuals who will: develop others, learn from others, and model continuous learning; share information in a transparent, timely and effective manner; actively collaborate with colleagues across the division and office; cultivate strategic alliances with partners within and beyond EPA.

Responsibilities include leading multi-stakeholder, inter-office workgroups, technical assistance, policy analysis, outreach and communication. Successful candidates will have excellent interpersonal skills and have demonstrated experience in navigating complex relationships to build consensus. The specialist will demonstrate leadership skills and professional experience that enable them to draw connections between community revitalization (i.e., smart growth strategies), emerging policy innovations (community wealth building, anti-displacement strategies, social determinants of health, etc), environmental justice, and conventional disciplines of community and economic development, public finance, planning, public health, to support development of new technical assistance and research programs, and advance federal, state, and local policy actions that align with Administration priorities.

Desired Qualifications:

1. Experience working for community-based organizations to develop and implement policies, programs, or plans that increase equitable development and address local environmental and public health challenges, such as climate mitigation and adaptation, lack of affordable, energy efficient housing, and limited transportation options.

2. Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and polices related to community and economic development or smart growth.

3. Professional experience and relationships in equitable development, community revitalization, and smart growth.

4. Skill in cross-agency or multi-stakeholder coordination and community engagement.

5. Excellent interpersonal and communications skills, including the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical audiences; and

6. Experience that would qualify for GS-13 position (minimum of 3 years related experience and education).

Senior Lecturer in Engineering Management
The School of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Cornell University seeks applicants for a Senior
Lecturer position in Engineering Management. Cornell’s Engineering Management Master of
Engineering (M.Eng.) program is building the next generation of technology leaders with the technical
rigor and business savvy to help shape the future, turning sociotechnical challenges into opportunities.
Our graduates combine technical depth with leadership, systems thinking, design thinking, and
communication skills to drive innovation and excellence in technology-driven enterprises.
The Master of Engineering degree is a coursework and project-oriented program to help graduates lead
people, make better decisions to advance their organization, and disrupt their field. It is heavily
interdisciplinary in nature. Engineering Management requires both expertise in the techniques specific
to the field and an understanding of how and why people behave as they do in the complex social
systems in which they work.

The successful candidate will lead the on-line Master of Engineering Program in Engineering
Management and will collaborate in the delivery of an on-campus version of that same program. This
person will also lead outreach for the program, lead the evolution of its intellectual footprint, teach
courses and provide guidance on student projects (likely by integrating their activities with companies).
Courses in entrepreneurship, disruptive technologies, novel business models connected to the tech
industry are of particular interest.

The Cornell School of Civil and Environmental Engineering seeks candidates with substantial engineering
leadership backgrounds in technical organizations. The successful candidate will have substantial
expertise in project leadership or product management including non-traditional paradigms for project
management and innovation leadership in an engineering context. In addition, candidates should have
experience in finance, marketing, and negotiations/contracting in technological organizations. Skills and
knowledge in strategy, technology roadmapping, and digital transformation efforts are also
recommended.

The successful applicant will have 1) an undergraduate degree in engineering or a related field; 2) an
MBA, Master of Engineering or a Masters degree in a related field; and 3) at least 10 years of experience
in leadership positions in engineering-oriented firms, ideally in entrepreneurial roles. The anticipated
start date is July 2022. The position is full time for a 5-year term and is renewable indefinitely. Salary
will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Student Opportunity in Sam Nunn School

Student Assistant for Nunn School Program on Global Development: The position would starts this semester – as soon as possible – and involves 10 hours/week of work. The position will be available for the entire semester as well as during the 2022-2023 academic year. The responsibilities would include creating content for the school’s Global Development Program website which would include covering faculty research and research talks given by external speakers and practitioners, coordinating events for the Global Development program (e.g. contacting internal and external speakers/practitioners) and helping with student outreach for these events. For this position, we are looking for someone with knowledge of, and interest in, various aspects of Global Development. Skills in web development/web design would be a big plus. The pay is $15 per hour. Assistant / Associate Professor with Structures focus – Florida Gulf Coast University

The Department of Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, and Construction Management is seeking candidates to fill one new faculty position at the rank of Assistant / Associate Professor with expertise in Structures / Infrastructures to contribute to our undergraduate-focused Civil Engineering program. This position requires an earned Doctorate from a regionally accredited institution in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or a closely related field.

The department is housed in the U.A. Whitaker College of Engineering, which is dedicated to quality education, scholarship, and service. All faculty are expected to be excellent teachers who are committed to innovative delivery of instruction that results in improved student learning; to using technology, including distance learning, effectively; to develop and maintain a research / scholarship program; to participate in service activities; and to engage in a continuous and outcomes-based assessment process. Faculty in the department are responsible for effectively teaching select lower-level interdisciplinary engineering courses as well as more advanced courses directly related to their specific area of expertise.

Successful candidates must work closely with the Department Chair, Program Director and other faculty on assessment and evaluation tasks necessary for ABET accreditation of the Civil Engineering program. Preferred areas of expertise include structures, infrastructure, geotechnical, or other closely related topics. Professional registration, licensing or the ability to become licensed, and relevant industry experience are desirable.
