Assistant / Associate Professor with Structures focus – Florida Gulf Coast University

The Department of Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, and Construction Management is seeking candidates to fill one new faculty position at the rank of Assistant / Associate Professor with expertise in Structures / Infrastructures to contribute to our undergraduate-focused Civil Engineering program. This position requires an earned Doctorate from a regionally accredited institution in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or a closely related field.

The department is housed in the U.A. Whitaker College of Engineering, which is dedicated to quality education, scholarship, and service. All faculty are expected to be excellent teachers who are committed to innovative delivery of instruction that results in improved student learning; to using technology, including distance learning, effectively; to develop and maintain a research / scholarship program; to participate in service activities; and to engage in a continuous and outcomes-based assessment process. Faculty in the department are responsible for effectively teaching select lower-level interdisciplinary engineering courses as well as more advanced courses directly related to their specific area of expertise.

Successful candidates must work closely with the Department Chair, Program Director and other faculty on assessment and evaluation tasks necessary for ABET accreditation of the Civil Engineering program. Preferred areas of expertise include structures, infrastructure, geotechnical, or other closely related topics. Professional registration, licensing or the ability to become licensed, and relevant industry experience are desirable.
