FAU Faculty Positions in Structural, Enviromental and Transportation Engineering

Assistant Professor Positions in Civil, Environmental & Geomatics Engineering:
The Department of Civil, Environmental & Geomatics Engineering (CEGE) at Florida Atlantic University
(FAU) welcomes applications for multiple tenure-track assistant professor positions in structural
engineering, civil materials, water resources/environmental engineering, and transportation
engineering. The candidate is expected to demonstrate strengths in one or more of the following areas:
complex structural systems and component behaviors under static and dynamic loadings, advanced
structural and material modeling techniques machine learning/AI tools for studying complex
interdependent problems associated with the built environment, flow in porous media, hydraulics,
subsurface geo-environmental engineering, groundwater flow, transport modeling, transportation
operations and management, emerging vehicle and infrastructure technologies, big data, artificial
intelligence, cyber physical systems, travel demand modeling, transportation energy, and transportation
planning. Candidates with exceptional research portfolios may also be considered at a higher rank.
The Department of Civil, Environmental & Geomatics Engineering (CEGE) at FAU is highly
interdisciplinary and conducts research primarily in the broad thematic areas of Urban
Mobility/Infrastructure and Water Resources/Environmental Sustainability. The Department hosts
various centers including the Freight Mobility Research Institute (fmri.fau.edu), a Tier 1 University
Transportation Center sponsored by the US Department of Transportation, Center for Water Resiliency
and Risk Reduction (cwr3.fau.edu), and Center for Infrastructure and Constructed Facilities. The
Department also houses a Transportation Research and Education Hub at the FAU Sea Tech campus. For
