Tenure-track faculty position in Civil Engineering-Carroll College


Carroll College in Helena, Montana is seeking to fill a tenure-track faculty position in civil engineering starting in the fall of 2023.  We are looking for candidates with the ability to teach courses in water resources and/or transportation and geotechnical engineering, but with the flexibility to teach general civil engineering courses at all undergraduate levels.

Our Civil Engineering program is ABET accredited. We are an undergraduate institution, with a main focus on teaching; not on research. We are looking for energetic, motivated individuals who want to interact with and mentor students. Required qualifications are a master’s degree in engineering and the ability to obtain a Professional Engineering (PE) license within four years of hire. A doctoral degree in engineering and a PE license are preferred.  Professional experience is a plus.

GT ASCE Geotech Coffee Chat

GT ASCE is hosting civil engineering-centered coffee chats which includes construction, structural, transportation, geotechnical, and water resources. The coffee chat is designed to bring together industry professionals, GT professors, graduates, and undergraduate students to discuss current issues/innovations in their field. 

You have a unique perspective of being a graduate student that our undergraduate members could really benefit from. If you are interested in sharing your thoughts/interest of your concentration, please fill this form out. I will reach out to you on a later day when your field of interest is coming up. 

Location may vary due to weather and space available. Most coffee chats will be on Thursdays from 6 PM – 7 PM inside (or outside) of the Mason building. If you are available, we would love for you to attend! If you don’t like coffee, we have hot chocolates as an alternative.

Event for Master’s Students: Thesis Camp

Communication Center is hosting an event on Saturday, March 11th that is open to master’s students who are in the writing stage of their thesis projects. “Thesis Camp” is a great opportunity for students who are graduating this spring (or even this summer) to get a lot of writing done on their thesis projects. Most of the time will be dedicated to independent writing, but there will also be writing activities and consultants on site to provide individual feedback to participants. Coffee and lunch will be provided.

2023 ExxonMobil LOFT Fellowship Program

ExxonMobil LOFT Fellowship
ExxonMobil Corporation, the largest publicly traded international energy company, has partnered with the Hispanic Heritage Foundation (HHF) to create fellowship opportunities in the STEM fields (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) for Hispanic college students. Through HHF’s Latinos On Fast Track (LOFT) program, ExxonMobil seeks to nurture motivated college students nationwide with a passion for Engineering and Science.

Selected students will be exposed to a top-quality company by participating in this signature mentoring program. Each student will be paired up with an ExxonMobil professional to learn how their knowledge and skills are applied in a corporate setting. 

Fellowship Components
The Fellowship consists of five 1-hour meetings with a mentor (virtual or in person), an exclusive curriculum to introduce Fellows to ExxonMobil and career opportunities, and a $1,000 educational grant. In addition, the possibility exists to interview for ExxonMobil positions (internships/full-time) upon successfully completing the Fellowship.

Fellowship Requirements
This opportunity is highly competitive and open to rising sophomores, juniors, seniors, and graduate students attending a 4-year college or university.
Fellowship applicants with the following majors will be given priority: 
·       Civil Engineering
·       Chemical Engineering 
·       Computer Engineering
·       Electrical Engineering
·       Geoscience 
·       Material Science and Engineering 
·       Mechanical Engineering

Applicants with these majors will also be considered: Chemistry, Computer Science, Environmental Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mathematics, Petroleum Engineering, and Physics.

Other Requirements:
·       Must plan to pursue a career in the fields/majors listed above
·       Have a GPA of 3.5 or higher
·       Be a U.S. citizen, a legal U.S. permanent resident or have the permanent right to work in the      U.S. Applicants selected are required to submit documentation for U.S. citizenship,  permanent resident or right to work.
