Tenure-Track Assistant Professor of Environmental and Water Resources Engineering
The department Civil and Environmental Engineering at UMass Amherst is seeking an assistant
professor, and may consider hiring an associate professor. The position is defined broadly across
the entire scope of environmental and/or water resources engineering. Scholars working across
disciplines or in nontraditional areas of environmental and/or water resources engineering are
particularly encouraged. Specific areas of interest include but are not limited to resilient and
sustainable infrastructure, water chemistry, water and wastewater treatment processes and reuse,
engineering justice, soil and hazardous waste management and remediation, groundwater, air
quality, hydrometeorology, systems engineering, and others.

This broad category reflects our openness to expand the scope of the department beyond our
traditional strengths, and it complements our intent to begin a new undergraduate degree
program in EWRE (offered within the CEE department) within the next two years. Any scholar
with a related interest in environmental and/or water resources engineering should apply.

Applicants must have a Ph.D. in civil, environmental, or water resources engineering or a closely
related field or anticipate such a degree by August, 2022. Applicants must also demonstrate
potential for scholarly excellence and developing an externally funded research program, and the
successful candidate will be expected to maintain an internationally recognized scholarly
presence. Candidates should also be prepared to teach existing undergraduate and graduate
courses in environmental and water resources engineering in addition to developing courses in
their area of expertise. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Position Announcement-Assistant Professor in Environmental Engineering at Michigan State University

The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Michigan State University invites applications from highly motivated individuals who can complement the mission, expertise and current strengths of the department in teaching, research and service. Applicants from all areas of civil and environmental engineering are encouraged to apply; however, the successful candidate must be able to demonstrate training sufficient to teach environmental chemistry and other courses among those traditionally taught in undergraduate and graduate environmental engineering programs. The candidate will be  expected to develop a nationally recognized research and teaching program and synergistically complement the existing expertise in the Department and CollegeThe successful candidate is also expected to build effective collaborations within the Department, College, and University. All areas of research specialization will be considered, but preference will be given to those that are complementary to existing strengths of environmental engineering faculty. Broadly the existing expertise include environmental separation processes, environmental nanotechnologies, bioremediation, pathogen detection, surface and groundwater contaminant hydrology, sustainability, soil remediation, landfill design and operation, building health (including indoor air quality), and sustainable energy systems.

Assistant Professor Position in Pavement Infrastructure and Geomaterials
The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the Florida A&M University – Florida State
University (FAMU-FSU) joint College of Engineering invites applications for a tenure-track assistant
professor position in Geomaterials and Geotechnical Engineering. The successful candidate’s expertise is
expected to complement and strengthen existing faculty research and teaching in civil and environmental
engineering. Applicants should have expertise in one or more areas of geomaterials engineering, including
but not limited to:

• Advanced pavement materials such as design and characterization of asphalt materials, application
of nanotechnology or additive manufacturing in pavement materials, Smart and multi-functional
pavement materials, recycling and reuse of pavement materials
• Climate change considerations in pavement engineering and sustainable geo-materials and coastal
resilience.
• Pavement sustainability, green technologies, and life-cycle assessment
