The Civil and Construction Engineering Department (https://cce.byu.edu/) at Brigham Young University seeks applications from highly qualified candidates for a full-time, professorial, continuing-faculty-status track position in the area of construction management. The Construction and Facilities Management Program provides construction-related curriculum and research opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students studying construction and facilities management, as well as civil engineering. The successful candidate should be able to teach a broad spectrum of construction management classes and must demonstrate a commitment to high-quality teaching and mentorship and the ability to develop a focused research agenda. Areas of interest include (but are not limited to):
- Sustainability and governance within the built environment
- Construction technology, including applications of artificial intelligence and big data
- Building science, systems modeling, and smart structures
- Heavy civil construction, including innovative equipment, practices, and materials
- Management, ethics, and leadership in civil and construction engineering
- Organization, design, and execution of construction projects
- Asset management and infrastructure resiliency
Responsibilities include:
- Teaching both undergraduate and graduate courses primarily in the area of expertise
- Developing a strong, externally funded research program wherein both undergraduate and graduate students are mentored and research results are published in top journals
- Making significant contributions to professional societies and the construction profession, as well as participating in department, college, and university service
Initial rank will be consistent with qualifications and experience. The expected start date is fall semester 2022. An earned doctorate in a construction management-related field and professional experience in a construction-related industry are required.
