INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY WITH AISC EDUCATION DEPARTMENT
FOR 2021-2022 SCHOOL YEAR

The American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) has an immediate opening for a paid, part-time (15-
20 hours per week) internship position with the Education Department for the 2021-2022 school year.
Qualified applicants will be enrolled in a civil engineering or architectural engineering undergraduate or
graduate program and will have completed at least one steel design course. Ideally, the applicant will be
available to work at AISC’s headquarters in downtown Chicago, but a remote position will be considered
for qualified applicants not located near Chicago. The applicant should also be authorized to work in the
United States.

The Education Intern assists the AISC Education Department on Continuing Education and University
Relations projects. Duties and responsibilities will include:

  •  Writing multiple choice quizzes to accompany recorded lectures on structural steel design and
    construction,
  • Proofreading drafts of educational material such as slides, standards, teaching aids, design guides,
    and other resources for technical accuracy,
  •  Completing administrative work to prepare technical materials for release, and
  • Assisting other departments such as Engineering, Research, or Steel Solutions Center on engineering projects as needed.
