Important Dates:
Phase II Registration: January 5-13th 2023. Registration ends promptly at 4pm. Do not wait until the last minute. FYI, after 4pm, you cannot change to Audit mode!
First Day of Class: January 9th.

Enrollment Waiver Thesis Deadline: January 13th
Payment Deadline: January 17th
GRAs and International Students: Make sure you are registered full time to maintain your status or employment.
GRAs, make sure you register for 21 hours. Register for however many courses you and your advisor agree upon, then fill up your schedule with thesis hours.
Will this course count towards my degree?
Visit the GSSO site here: https://gsso.ce.gatech.edu View the page for your specialization. Any courses that are not on those lists must be approved by your faculty advisor. If you don’t know who your faculty advisor is, feel free to ask me.

Courses not applying in DegreeWorks? Many courses do not automatically apply and must be manually applied. I will not likely add any classes until after registration. Refer to the GSSO website to make sure your courses will apply.

  • You cannot register for CS/CSE courses until the middle of Phase II.
Grade Modes:
Classes may be offered Letter Grade, Pass/Fail or Audit mode. You will see these options in OSCAR under “Grade Basis” A=Audit; L=Letter; P=Pass/Fail. If the option is not there, it is not offered.
January 13th is the last day to change to Audit Mode.

Tenure-Track Transportation Engr. Assistant Professor position at the University of South Florida

The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering of the University of South Florida is seeking a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor in Transportation Engineering. The successful candidate is expected to develop a rigorous externally funded research program, supervise students, and teach courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels. We are particularly interested in candidates with expertise in travel behavior analysis, decision science, behavioral economics, and who have a strong focus on investigating human response, reaction, interaction, and decision making with connected and automated transportation systems.  Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Candidates should have completed or be near completion of a PhD in civil engineering or a related engineering area from an accredited institution with emphasis in transportation engineering; professional registration is expected within 1 year if not already registered. The successful candidate is expected to start fall 2023. Candidates are expected to have demonstrated leadership and communication skills; to work effectively in teams; to integrate research, education, and service activities; and to be actively engaged in leadership in professional societies. Candidates must be committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion among students, faculty, and staff. 

 The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (http://www.usf.edu/engineering/cee/) has twenty-three (23) tenure-track/tenured faculty members, two (2) instructors, five (5) supporting faculty from the Center for Urban Transportation (CUTR) at USF, and three (3) staff members. The Department offers BS, MS, and PhD degrees, serving nearly 250 undergraduates, 125 Master’s students, and 70 PhD students. The Civil Engineering graduate program was ranked 69th nationally and 45th among US public universities, and the Environmental Engineering graduate program was ranked 38th nationally and 23rd among US public universities by US News and World Report (2022).

The applicant will be expected to contribute substantially to the school’s sustainable engineering concentration area, joining a group of faculty members who are leaders in interdisciplinary infrastructure systems, construction, and environmental engineering across ASU and beyond. Candidates will have a Ph.D. in engineering, or a closely related field, with a research and scholarly focus on engineering for resilient and sustainable environments, such as climate adaptation, cyberphysical system integration and security, resource recovery and circular economy, agile and flexible infrastructure for uncertainty, management of integrated infrastructure-social-ecological systems, or preparing infrastructure for increasingly complex conditions. Candidates whose work involves analyzing interdependencies among myriad networks (e.g., transportation, water, power, communications), identifying and mitigating vulnerabilities through the engineering of smart and connected systems and designing smart and connected communities of the future are also encouraged to apply.
