Position Summary:
The Civil Engineering Department at Oregon Institute of Technology (Oregon Tech) invites
applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor with a background in transportation
engineering. The Department is looking for a faculty member that can contribute to and enhance
the Department’s undergraduate programs in transportation engineering, as well as complement
and expand the scope of our research and graduate strength. Expertise in areas
complementary to the existing faculty is sought and can include interests across the
transportation spectrum – from geo/pavements to traffic operations and modeling.
The start date is September 2022. The successful candidate will be expected to teach
approximately three transportation and/or fundamental civil engineering courses per term from
freshman through graduate level. Job duties are primarily instructional, so a focus on highquality instruction is important. Civil faculty are also expected to maintain high-quality
professional development and service to the profession which includes, but is not limited to,
externally funded collaborative research.

Additional Requirements:
 An earned doctoral degree in civil engineering or a closely related field
Preferred Summary:
 Prior industry or teaching experience
 Eligible for licensure as a professional engineer
 Demonstrated experience writing proposals for and securing research grants and
contracts
Department Summary:
The Civil Engineering Department offers both BS and MS degrees. We maintain modern labs
that support geotechnical, transportation, structural, and water resources education and
research. Hands-on learning is a hallmark of an Oregon Tech education and the newly
renovated civil labs allow for exploration using state-of-the-art equipment. Oregon Tech is a
founding member of the National Institute for Transportation and Communities (NITC), a sixcampus National University Transportation Center funded by the US Department of
Transportation. Our faculty are eligible to be NITC principal investigators and regularly earn transportation research, education, and student support grants. Faculty instruction is well
supported with discipline-specific software, an excellent IT department, a dedicated civil lab
technician, and Canvas as the learning management system. Our civil engineering student body
of 120 students is curious and enthusiastic in the classroom and looks forward to your engaging
instruction.

POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of California, Berkeley invites applications for a Teaching Professor position to
contribute to the transformation of the Department’s curriculum by integrating innovative tools and emerging themes related to CEE. Hiring will be at the
Assistant Teaching Professor level with security-of-employment granted upon promotion to Associate Teaching Professor.
Civil and Environmental Engineering at UC Berkeley is educating leaders to address the most complex and significant societal-scale challenges, including
infrastructure renewal, climate change mitigation and adaptation, and the engineering of sustainable, resilient, just, and equitable systems. The discipline is
evolving to take on these forward-looking challenges while making use of modern computational tools and data science methodologies. The education of
future engineers must match this perspective.

Berkeley CEE is looking for a faculty member to strongly contribute to the Department’s efforts to transform its curricula to help meet these societal
challenges and by leveraging the emergence of new approaches and tools to address them. We seek candidates who will contribute to teaching and curricular
development from the lower-division undergraduate level to the graduate level. We are particularly interested in candidates who will develop and teach crosscutting foundational courses in Computation and Data Science in the context of Civil and Environmental Engineering.
