Position Summary/Purpose of Position

 

University of Maryland’s Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) seeks applicants for a tenure track Assistant/Associate level Professor position in Water Resources (groundwater/surface water hydrology and/or environmental hydraulics). We are seeking applicants with crosscutting expertise in one or more areas of data science and data analytics; climate change; disaster and resilience; public health; global health, and/or sustainable infrastructure systems. Ideal applicants will also have experience and/or demonstrated interest in community engagement, equity, and/or social justice in their research and/or teaching.Minimum Qualifications All applicants must hold a Ph.D. in Civil or Environmental Engineering or a related field prior to starting.

PreferencesCandidates should demonstrate the ability to teach effectively at the undergraduate and graduate levels, guide an active scholarly research program, integrate with current research activities, collaborate across discipline boundaries, and obtain funding from competitive external funding agencies. In addition, candidates should be committed to enhancing diversity and inclusion in the field through research and teaching, and would ideally be engaged in activities to promote it.

TWO TENURE-TRACK ASSISTANT PROFESSORs IN Architectural Engineering

Oklahoma State University School of Architecture is accepting applications to fill two tenure-track faculty positions at the Assistant Professor level in Architectural Engineering. The successful candidates will have a primary focus in building structures, environmental control topics, or architectural construction management.  One of the two positions will teach engineering core courses (Statics or Strengths). Teaching in architectural design studios is also an expectation of these positions.  The positions are primarily focused upon teaching, however all faculty are expected to develop a creative and scholarly agenda that contributes to the mission and goals of the school, college, and university.

Candidate Credentials

Preference will be given to candidates who have a Master of Architectural Engineering or equivalent advanced engineering degree with a professional license (PE or SE) and significant practice experience, or experienced candidates with a Ph.D.

Candidates must be able to teach introductory and advanced level structural engineering courses or environmental control topics and core engineering courses, instruct students in professional design projects, and contribute to fundamental architectural design studios.

Position Responsibilities

The responsibilities of the job include teaching courses; supervising the efforts of student assistants; serving under applicable regulations on graduate student committees; advising students on curricular and career choices; assisting student organizations; serving on departmental, college and university committees; assuming major responsibilities for those areas assigned by the school head. An Assistant Professor is expected to develop scholarly and professional maturity as evidenced, variously, by publication at conferences; development of substantial course and curriculum materials; active participation in appropriate technical societies. Candidates are expected to develop a scholarly agenda as well as participate in academic and professional service.
