Institutions of higher education across the US responded to George Floyd’s murder in May 2020 with public statements of commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion – as well as to supporting more anti-racism work. Yet, over one year later, it is not clear that these promises have been realized: commitments to social justice change must be accompanied by the requisite capacities and skills for leading such change.
