Geotechnical teaching professor position at Missouri S&T

We have an immediate opening for a geotechnical or geological engineering teaching professor position, targeting a fall start date.

The opportunity would be a joint appointment with the Geological Engineering Program and the Civil Engineering Program.

The Department of Geosciences and Geological and Petroleum Engineering (GGPE) and the Department of Civil, Architectural and Environmental Engineering (CArEE) at the Missouri University of Science and Technology (Missouri S&T) invite applications for a Teaching Professor (non-tenure track) position in Geological Engineering or Geotechnical Engineering to begin in August 2024. The successful candidate will be jointly appointed to GGPE and CArEE, with the former being the home department. Rank will be commensurate with experience.

 The applicant for this position will teach a variety of courses, which may include engineering geology, rock engineering, subsurface exploration, geological engineering design, soil mechanics, and other courses depending on the expertise of the faculty member and the needs of the department. The faculty member should be prepared to teach both undergraduate and graduate students.

 Minimum Qualifications

The educational requirements may be met through a Ph.D. in geological engineering, civil engineering, or closely related discipline, or through a M.S. in geological engineering, civil engineering, or closely related field with 15 or more years of related industry experience.

 Preferred Qualifications

Significant experience in either industry or academia is desired. Candidates who are licensed Professional Engineers or who have the capability of quickly obtaining licensure are preferred.
