Registration concludes on August 27th at 4pm. No exceptions!  Payment Deadline is August 30th at 4pm.

Trailblazers in Engineering (TBE) are workshops to prepare future trailblazing faculty in engineering with a focus on preparing outstanding scholars who are also committed to increasing the success of underrepresented communities of engineers. Trailblazers in Engineering Fellows are selected not only for their outstanding scholarly achievements but also for their potential impact in expanding representation and diversity in engineering.

The virtual workshop will provide Fellows the ability to network with leading faculty in engineering, thought leaders, program managers at key federal funding agencies, Purdue Engineering heads, and of course, each other. Participants will also meet current Trailblazers and benefit from their inspiring keynote talks.

TBE 2021 will be held virtually October 19 – 22, 2021.

Global Young Scientists Summit 2022

Georgia Tech has been invited to nominate up to 10 students and/or postdoctoral researchers to participate and 10 to view the tenth edition of the Global Young Scientists Summit (GYSS) in Singapore in January 2022. GYSS is an annual multidisciplinary summit that brings together eminent scientific minds and young scientists to foster the exchange among scientists of different generations, cultures and disciplines. Speakers comprising recipients of the Nobel Prize, Fields Medal, Millennium Technology Prize and Turing Award and other distinguished scientists, interact with participants, comprising PhD students and postdoctoral fellows from all over the world. The Summit is an opportunity for leaders and students to address global challenges and needs. The Summit provides a platform for researchers to build a global research network.

The President of the Republic of Singapore has served as the patron of the Summit. Singapore will provide hospitality for participants that will include accommodations, conference costs, social activities, meals, and local transportation between accommodation, conference sites, and social activities.   • Per GYSS eligibility criteria, applicants must:
    • not be older than 35 years of age at the time of the Summit,
    • show a genuine interest in science and research,
    • show a strong commitment to their principal field of studies and to interdisciplinary work,
    • receive the endorsement of an organization that was invited to provide nominees
    • not have participated in previous Global Young Scientists Summits
    • not yet have a permanent position (scientists with permanent positions, in particular on the professor level, will in general not be admitted to the Summit)
  • Required nomination materials are as follows:
    • Student’s/Postdoc’s CV, to include redacted GT ID # (e.g., xx3456789)
    • Nomination letter from faculty advisor
    • One-page essay from student/postdoc about why the student would like to participate in this Summit
  • Nominations must be submitted via the GT InfoReady Review (IRR) internal competition platform by Friday, AUGUST 20, 2021, at 11:59pm.

  • Selection of the GT nominees will be made by a faculty committee convened by the Vice Provost for Graduate Education and Faculty Development. The official GYSS call for nominations will be sent to GT sometime in October 2021.

Instructor Position in Civil Engineering at the University of North Dakota

Position Information

Description
The Department of Civil Engineering at the University of North Dakota (UND) is inviting applicants for its 9-month instructor position.

The UND Civil Engineering program offers Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (BSCE) and these graduate degrees:

-Master of Science in Civil Engineering (MS)
-Master of Engineering (M.Engr)
-Combined BSCE and MS
-Combined BSCE and MEngr
-Ph.D. in Civil Engineering
Almost all the courses offered for the BSCE and graduate degrees are delivered in both on-campus and online formats.

The department also hosts the Graduate Program in Environmental Engineering, offering Certificate, MS, M.Engr, and Ph.D. Degrees in Environmental Engineering. Students in these programs are from multidisciplinary backgrounds. For the list of all courses offered please visit:

Duties & Responsibilities
The successful applicant must have a demonstrated dedication to excellence in engineering education to teach a wide range of undergraduate courses to a diverse student population in civil engineering department. The successful applicant will have the following primary responsibilities and duties:

-Instruction in a wide range of civil and environmental engineering undergraduate courses
-Teaching three courses in the fall and three courses in the Spring, on average, in civil engineering, both on-campus and at-a-distance, potentially including both classroom and laboratory settings
-Mentoring students in course/career planning and fulfilling graduation requirements;
-Helping with recruiting activities
-Communicating effectively in English with students, families, faculty, staff and other professional colleagues in person and at-a-distance (phone, email, etc.)
-Utilizing computer hardware and software to carry out teaching and service responsibilities to the civil engineering department
-Operating laboratory equipment and instrumentation found in civil engineering laboratories
-Participating in department, college, university, and professional service activities.
Required Competencies
-The successful applicant will have excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
-Effective teaching and pedagogy skills appropriate to the position.
Minimum Requirements
-M.S. degree in civil engineering or a closely related field.
-Successful completion of criminal history records check.
In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identify and eligibility to work in the US and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire. This position does not support visa sponsorship for continued employment.

Preferred Qualifications
-Ph.D. degree in civil engineering or a closely related field.
-College-level teaching experience (graduate teaching experience is acceptable).
-Industrial experience in civil engineering generally.
-Licensure as a professional engineer (P.E.) or commitment to obtaining licensure within two years of employment
Minimum Hiring Salary
$65,000 starting salary
Work Schedule/Start Date
Typical work schedule is 8 AM-5 PM Monday through Friday. Expected start date is January 2022.

Global Climate Action Symposium

Join us at the Global Climate Action Symposium this September!
