Title: Pre-Task Planning to Enhance Safety and Health: Challenges & Solutions

In construction, Pre-Task Planning (PTP) is a preventive process performed before each task starts to discuss the steps of work, the safety and health hazards associated with each step, and available controls to mitigate or eliminate these hazards. This process may also be known as Job Hazard Analysis, Job Safety Analysis, morning huddle, etc. However, a lack of comprehensive guidelines to design and implement the PTP process in a consistent manner has impacted its application and effectiveness. To fill the gap in current PTP practices, CPWR has developed an easy-to-use, one-page “Pre-Task Planning Assessment Checklist” based on research findings and input from construction practitioners. Please join us to learn about challenges and shortcoming of current PTP practices in the construction industry and how this checklist can help you assess and improve your PTP process.
