Graduate Education Seeks Group Leaders for GT 6000 (Grad Groups) Course 

Georgia Tech’s Office of Graduate Education seeks motivated graduate students (both master’s and Ph.D.) to work as Group Leaders for the GT6000 (Grad Groups) program from May 2022 through December 2022. This is an outstanding opportunity for any graduate student who is looking to diversify their resume and add leadership experience. Group Leaders will have the opportunity to mentor, counsel, and lead a group of first-semester graduate students as they acclimate to campus. The estimated time commitment is a total of 30-40 hours (distributed from May to December). Group Leaders will be compensated with a $500 stipend. An information session with food and drinks will be held on Tuesday, March 29 at 5 p.m. in Weber SST III, Classroom 2. Please complete the Grad Groups Info Session RSVP form if you plan to attend.

UW Seattle searching for Assistant / Associate Teaching Professor and Director of the SCTL MS Program

The University of Washington Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering has opened a search for a new teaching faculty at the assistant or associate professor level whose activities will be split between serving as a traditional teaching faculty responsible for teaching transportation engineering courses at undergraduate and graduate levels within the CEE Department’s BSCE and MSCE degree programs and serving as the Director of the Supply Chair Transportation and Logistics MS degree program, which is a primarily online degree program associated with the UW CEE Department. Lakehead University is delighted to announce a transformative evolution of its Faculty of Engineering that will lead to the creation of the ‘Modern Engineering’ paradigm. This ambitious project builds on the successes of the present Faculty of Engineering, which currently offers fully accredited and innovative programs in Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Software Engineering as well as a new BEng + MBA program.

This major initiative provides a unique opportunity for both senior and junior faculty to help lead the creation of innovative teaching and research programs that integrate the diverse areas of Engineering, Law, Business, Sciences and Humanities, within the multidisciplinary environment of Lakehead University.

The Department of Civil Engineering at Lakehead University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in the field of Construction Engineering and Management at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor, commencing on July 1st or August 1st, 2022. Rank of appointment is dependent on the qualifications, teaching and research experiences of the successful candidate.

The Department offers dynamic, innovative, and cross‐disciplinary accredited undergraduate programs as well as graduate programs in civil engineering. The Department has diverse expertise over a wide range of experimental, numerical, and analytical research areas in construction, environmental, fire safety, geotechnical, structural, transportation, and water resources engineering.

Candidates must have a Ph.D. in civil engineering with expertise in construction engineering and management, as well as a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering. We are particularly interested in candidates having demonstrated research and teaching expertise in one or more of the following disciplines: modelling, analyzing, and optimizing operations related to construction; Building Information Modelling (BIM); and construction automation. Experience in applications of the following areas in construction engineering: computer simulation; artificial intelligence (AI) techniques; big data and data analytics are desired.

The successful candidate must have a demonstrated record of research excellence through high quality publications; have the strong ability to develop a vigorous externally-funded, high quality research program; be committed to effective and excellence in teaching; and contribute to the academic life of the Department. Synergy to establish collaborative research links with existing members of the Department and across the University is highly desirable.

The successful candidate is expected to be a licensed Professional Engineer with eligibility for membership with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) and shall obtain this license within three years from the date of hire.
