Oklahoma State University Assistant Professor in Structural Engineering and Mechanics

okstate.csod.com/ats/careersite/…The School of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CIVE) at Oklahoma State University (OSU) is pleased to invite applications for one tenure-track faculty position in Structural Engineering and Mechanics. The position is expected to be filled at the Assistant Professor rank; however, higher ranks may be considered with appropriate qualifications. Successful candidates must demonstrate potential for developing a strong externally funded research program. Candidates with research interests in all areas of structural engineering and mechanics will be considered. The School is especially interested in candidates that can collaborate strategically with current expertise within the department to address research areas including, but not limited to, resilient infrastructure systems, engineering for natural and man-made hazards, sustainable and interconnected systems, bio-inspired materials and structures, and smart and revolutionary materials. Candidates will have the opportunity to utilize the Bert Cooper Engineering Research Laboratory, a 33,000 ft2 state-of-the-art structural engineering and materials engineering research laboratory with 6,000 ft2 strong floor high bay testing area (ceat.okstate.edu/cive/research/bert-cooper/index.html). Candidates will also have access to the High-Performance Computing Center (https://hpcc.okstate.edu).

The successful candidate must have an academic background to teach undergraduate courses in structural engineering and engineering mechanics in the Civil Engineering curriculum, as well as offer new and/or existing graduate courses in their area of expertise. A Ph.D. and undergraduate degree in, or closely related to, Civil and Environmental Engineering is required. It is expected that candidates can become licensed as a Professional Engineer within 6 years of appointment.

Oklahoma State University is located in Stillwater, Oklahoma, approximately 60 miles from both Oklahoma City and Tulsa. The School currently has 17 faculty members, 280 undergraduate students, and 50 graduate students.
