Civil and Sustainability Engineering

Murray State University is seeking an Assistant Professor for the Bachelor of Science in Civil and Sustainability Engineering program.

Qualifications: Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related degree is required. Professional Engineering licensure in Kentucky within four years is required. Having passed the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam or a doctorate from a civil engineering program that is approved by the Kentucky Board of Licensure and Surveyors is required. Work experience as a civil or environmental engineer or teaching civil/environmental engineering is preferred.

Responsibilities: Responsibilities include teaching classes in the civil and sustainability engineering program including, but not limited to, water quality, hydraulics, remediation, senior design and the introduction to civil and sustainability engineering course. This faculty will be expected to develop and maintain water quality and hydraulics laboratories.

Engagement in seeking the EAC/ABET accreditation for this new civil and sustainability engineering program is required. Responsibilities commensurate of an assistant professor, to include research and creative activities is critical. Other responsibilities include student academic and career advisement, and developing professional industry partners for internship and full-time career opportunities. Development and participation in student recruiting and retention activities is important for program growth.
