We are excited to announce openings for two tenure-track faculty positions in Geotechnical Engineering at The Ohio State University.
These searches come at an exciting time when the University and the College of Engineering are under new leadership with a bold vision to spread opportunity more widely through academic excellence and a culture of inclusiveness. These efforts build upon a strong foundation to ensure OSU faculty are supported as they launch and sustain their careers, including through the College of Engineering Faculty Mentor Program, the Drake Institute of Teaching and Learning Teaching Support and Teaching Endorsement programs, and the wide variety of employee-led networking and affinity groups. In addition, the location of Ohio State in the culturally vibrant city of Columbus, OH offers activities for all interests.
Areas of interest broadly include, but are not limited to smart sustainable geo-systems; geo-hazard sensing and modeling; risk and resilience of geo-systems; energy foundations; ground improvement; geosynthetics; geoenvironmental engineering; coastal geotechnics; biogeotechnics; and areas at the intersection of geotechnical engineering and infrastructure equity. Methodologies of interest include, but are not limited to, geomechanics and advanced physics-based computational modeling; characterization of properties and phenomena by experimental, in-situ testing, remote sensing and geophysical methods; and advanced data science/analytics in geotechnics. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to complement existing department strengths around climate alterations and resilience, public health exposure of the built environment, energy systems management, and data collection and analytics. Positions are full-time (9-month), beginning August 2022.
